Fog Seal & Sand Seal

Fog Seal

A Fog Seal is a light application of asphalt emulsion applied to the surface of chip seal, open graded cold mix or a weathered hot mix asphalt surface.

Fog seals are used to delay weathering of the pavement, waterproof the pavement surface, improve the pavement’s ability to keep water from penetrating the base course, reduce raveling and enrich weathered road surfaces.

Sand Seal

A sand seal is a sprayed application of asphalt emulsion followed by a covering of clean sand or fine aggregate.

Sand seals enrich weathered pavements and fills fine cracks in the pavement surface. The sand can provide additional skid resistance to the pavement while also inhibiting raveling. Sand seals are also used over single surface chip seal to give a more finished appearance.
